Pinterest in the Classroom

All most all of us have used Pinterest to find food recipes to looking up cool projects. I personally have used Pinterest for several years now. I think it is fun to find all kinds of things to pin and repin.  One thing I have never thought to use Pinterest for is classroom activities. There is a lot of lesson plans and organization tips that we as teachers can use. As I was looking for lessons over the water cycle, I found so many amazing activities teachers have used in their classroom over what I was looking for. I found a lot of great pins to make a project based learning activity for 4th graders over the water cycle.
The project I made was, have students create a digital poster over the water cycle. The app I had them do this with is called PicKids. It was super easy to use and would be great for kids to use. The first thing I had them do was add a background. There are all different colors and designs to choice from.

After they have decided on a background you can make a college grid. This allows you to have a template to add multiple pictures, which worked out great because the topic is the water cycle. I choice to have the students pick the grid with four different sections would work the best because of the three stages of the water cycle. I added runoff as a bonus to fill that last section.

Once that was done, you can start adding pictures. This app allows kids to search the web while in the app which was super convenient. You will find that the plus button it where every action is located.

Since I had them creating a poster, I thought they should add labels to each picture. I wanted them to label each picture and have a title. You can change the font and be as creative with it as you want!

Since this a poster over the water cycle, arrows are a must. I could not find a drawing button or any like that. I did find out you can add put pictures of arrows. You can also rotate them to go in any direction and make bigger or smaller.

Once students finish the project, you can have them print it off. I also assigned a paper for the students off. The paper was about what they have learned about the water cycle.

I have learned Pinterest is not just about planning your wedding or finding amazing food recipes. There are many other benefits Pinterest has. There is many different activities, lesson plans, and organization tips you can find from other teachers.

About Me

Hello!

My name is Tia Farmer, and I am from Texarkana, Texas. I am an Elementary Education major at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. At Henderson State University, I am a member of the Showband of Arkansas. I was also in band and color guard since high school. This has made band a huge part of my life. I am the oldest of 3 younger sisters. Going places with all of us can be very hectic but that never stopped us from having a vacation. For as long as I can remember, my family has gone on vacation every summer. Each summer was filled with tons of memories and joy all because we got to travel together.

I know not many people have been given the opportunity to travel and explore new things. I have been blessed to travel to many different places, all with my family. The reason I decided to blog about traveling is because it has become one of my favorite things to do. I want to share with people some of my favorite adventures and places I have gone. The memories you can make while traveling can last a lifetime. I hope to share these memories with everyone.
